Before participating in a MycoTreks trip, all guests are required to sign our Assumption of Risk, Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement. This document was carefully crafted and attorney-reviewed to protect both you and us, and to ensure we’re all aligned on expectations—physically, legally, and ethically.

Below is a summary of what the waiver covers, written in plain language. The full legal version will be signed prior to departure.

You Accept That Adventure Carries Risk

Traveling in remote forests, hiking at elevation, and foraging for wild fungi all carry inherent risks—including physical injury, illness, weather-related disruptions, and limited access to medical care.

By signing the waiver, you acknowledge these risks and agree to participate voluntarily.

You Release Us from Liability

You agree not to hold MycoTreks, its employees, or its guides legally responsible for accidents, injuries, or damages that occur during the trip—except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

You Agree to Obey Laws & Policies

By signing the waiver, you commit to:

• Following all local, national, and international laws (especially those related to mushroom collection, drug use, and land access)

• Upholding the MycoTreks Community Guidelines and Ethical Foraging Policy, which are outlined on our website and reviewed during pre-trip briefings and workshops

• Respecting the instructions of your guides, interpreters, and local hosts at all times

This includes refraining from any collection of psychoactive species or foraging in protected areas without permission.

You’re Responsible for Your Own Health

You confirm that you are fit to participate and will disclose any allergies, medical conditions, or concerns that may impact your ability to safely join the trip.

You are responsible for bringing your own medications and for communicating needs in advance.

You Consent to Limited Photography Use

You may be photographed during the trip for promotional or educational purposes. You may opt out of being photographed at any time—just let us know in writing. We will never share private or sensitive content without permission.

You Acknowledge and Accept the Terms

At the end of the waiver, you confirm that:

• You’ve read and understood the document

• You’re signing it voluntarily

• You agree to abide by MycoTreks’ field policies, ethics, and community values

• You understand that violating those terms may result in removal from the trip without refund
